Do you enjoy cooking?  Have you always wanted to work in a professional kitchen?  Learn all about the culinary industry in our 5 Star Kitchen!  Class time is spent learning culinary techniques while gaining experience working in a professional kitchen. 

This course is dedicated to providing students a working knowledge of classical culinary techniques. Through lecture, hands-on work, and projects the students will learn the skills needed for a career in the food service industry. Training in sanitation, hot food production, meat identification and fabrication, pantry, breakfast cookery, purchasing, and basic culinary skills is offered. Curriculum also includes culinary math, field trips, and competitive events.

Culinary Arts 1 (2 Credit) Open to 10th, 11th & 12th graders

Instructor

Chef Appleby was born and raised in Vienna, Va. He is a graduate of the Marshall Academy and went on to pursue a degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management at Johnson and Wales University. He then pursued his culinary dream and opened multiple restaurants in Charlotte, North Carolina. From there he moved back to Vienna and helped open Hawk and Griffin in Vienna. Chef is so honored to be back at his alma matter and teaching the next generation of chefs.
