What major has been listed as one of the fastest growing in the country?  CHINESE!

Chinese 1: 

Students develop the necessary skills for functional oral and written communication by using the language in meaningful contexts. They will examine the historical background, educational system, arts and customs of Chinese culture as well as the influence of Chinese culture in the United States.

Chinese 2:

Prerequisites: Level 1 or equivalency test. Students continue to develop proficiency in all four language skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing with emphasis on the ability to communicate orally. They have sufficient knowledge of Chinese characters to interpret the content of simple readings. The study of Chinese history and culture is integrated into the language development process.

Chinese 3:

Prerequisites: Level 2 or equivalency test. Students continue to develop proficiency in all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing with emphasis on understanding and responding to statement and conversations conducted in Chinese. They have sufficient knowledge of Chinese characters to interpret the content of assigned readings dealing with abstract concepts. Cultural topics include Chinese art, music, and literature and its influence on American culture.

Chinese 4 / IB Chinese I: 

Students continue to develop language proficiency in all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing with emphasis on functional communication. They are able to interpret text and write in Chinese on a wide variety of topics. Cultural topics include Chinese political and social systems.

AP Chinese / IB Chinese II: 

Students prepare and sit for either the AP Chinese or IB Chinese II exam.
